I wanted to share the message I sent to my Fathom agents this morning because I believe it’s something we can all use today.
As I reflect on the year, I am in awe at how blessed we, as a company, really are. I am humbled and thankful to call so many of you my friends and my family. Of the 86,000 brokerages in this country, you chose Fathom to call home. That is not lost on me, and I can assure you that we will never take your faith in Fathom for granted. I am forever grateful to each and every one of you.
Fathom is not one person, or some group of executives in an ivory tower. Fathom is an idea. A belief that we can change the world through two simple and yet profound principles of love and service. Our human nature actually fights against these two truths as we guard ourselves from being hurt and struggle to gain more, sometimes at the detriment of others. It’s easy to fall into that mindset because survival is coded into our DNA. Fight the urge to serve yourself and your own needs. Real estate can be more than just a livelihood. It can be a mission if you allow it to be. What an awesome opportunity we have to touch the lives of so many people we meet and serve.
Why am I sharing these words when every other Thanksgiving message you read simply talks about being thankful? Because I want to challenge you, during this holiday season, to be the reason someone else is thankful. Don’t just tell others that you care about them, show them through your actions and your selfless service to others. Be the change you want to see in this world. Give others a reason to be thankful, and then help them to do the same for someone else. Do that, and together we really can change the world. That is a world we can be proud to leave our children and grandchildren.
Today, you have a choice to live for yourself and let your light die out when you pass from this earth, or you can choose to live for others and build a legacy bigger and brighter than yourself. I hope you choose to live forever through the lives you touch.
Thank you for being a part of our Fathoms family. May your Thanksgiving be filled with joy and your heart be filled with love.
