Fathom Serves Week is a time when our agents come together to support their communities through hands-on volunteering, fundraising, and meaningful engagement. From feeding children in Florida to caring for animals in South Carolina, helping older adults in Washington, D.C., and furnishing homes in North Carolina, Fathom agents are living out our commitment to service. Here’s a look at how each district served its community this year.
Florida: Fighting Childhood Hunger in Brevard County
District: East Central Coast, FL
Event: Children’s Hunger Project – Brevard County, FL
District Director: Brianne Heath
In Brevard County, more than half of school-aged children rely on free or reduced lunch programs, and on weekends, many go home to empty cabinets. The Children’s Hunger Project ensures kids receive shelf-stable food for the weekend. Fathom agents joined the packing event in Cocoa, FL, contributing to 1,300 food bags packed in just two hours. Shawnna Cunning and Brianne Heath helped lead the effort, part of a program that delivers over 5,000 bags weekly, improving attendance, grades, and behavior in local schools.

North Carolina: Empowering Families Through Furniture
District: Charlotte East and West, NC
Event: Furnish for Good – Charlotte, NC
District Director: Craig Daugherty
Fathom agents assisted Furnish for Good (FFG), a nonprofit that provides well-loved home furnishings to underserved communities. By curating furniture and creating thoughtfully designed spaces, agents helped provide families not only with practical home furnishings but also dignity and a sense of empowerment. One vignette curated by Fathom agents sold within an hour, and the furniture went to a mother of five, creating a safe and comfortable space for her family to eat, rest, and spend time together.

South Carolina: Honoring Heroes and Supporting Animal Rescue
District: Coastal Carolina, SC
Event: Military Appreciation Picnic and Parade – Myrtle Beach
District Director: Kimberly Nicoll
Fathom agents participated in Myrtle Beach’s Military Appreciation Month, joining a parade on a Fathom-decorated golf cart, handing out gifts, poppy pins, and flags. A Fathom tent provided VA lending information and resources. This event celebrated local heroes and allowed agents to engage with the community in a meaningful way.

District: Columbia, PeeDee-Sumter, SC
Event: Community Dog Wash – Final Victory Animal Rescue, W. Columbia, SC
District Director: Brandi Clarkson
Volunteers, including Fathom agents, families, and community members, came together for a fun and impactful dog wash event benefiting Final Victory Animal Rescue. Dogs received extra love and care while raising awareness and donations for the shelter. Agents also coordinated supplies, engaging the community in this annual, heartwarming tradition.

District: Columbia, PeeDee-Sumter, SC
Event: Community Dog Wash- Chester County Animal Control, Chester, SC
District Director: Brandi Clarkson
At the 3rd Annual Community Dog Wash supporting Chester County Animal Control, Fathom agents washed community dogs, cared for shelter animals, and collected donations for Final Victory Animal Rescue. Volunteers had fun while making a meaningful impact on the animals and the community they serve. Kia Westbrook and Brandi Clarkson led the effort, demonstrating the joy and satisfaction of giving back.

Virginia: Supporting Homeless Pets at Richmond SPCA
District: Richmond, VA
Event: Richmond SPCA Volunteer Work
District Director: Rene Welvaert
Ten Fathom agents dedicated their time to the Richmond SPCA, cleaning cat rooms, maintaining dog crates, and writing thank-you notes to donors. The effort included volunteers from Encompass Lending Group and Verus Title, making it a full Fathom family event. It was a rewarding day, offering hands-on support to homeless animals and reinforcing our commitment to community service.

Washington, D.C.: Supporting Neighbors at Capitol Hill Village
District: Northern Virginia East / Washington, D.C.
Event: Annual Wine Gala – Volunteer Assistance
District Director: Christine Gray
Fathom agents volunteered at Capitol Hill Village’s Annual Wine Gala, assisting with guest registration and welcoming attendees. Capitol Hill Village engages older adults and neighborhood residents through social, educational, and wellness programs. Agents learned from members and staff about supporting neighbors as they age in place, while contributing to an organization that relies heavily on volunteers to strengthen community ties.
