Lucia Jones’ journey into real estate is nothing short of inspiring. From her beginnings in Germany to her current role as a licensed agent in Virginia, Lucia embodies resilience, adaptability, and a passion for helping others navigate the world of real estate.
The Spark That Ignited Her Career
Lucia’s interest in real estate began early. “After graduating from school, I had to decide between a career in real estate or media,” she recalls. Although she initially pursued media, her passion for real estate never waned. Years later, when a friend in Germany opened his own brokerage, Lucia seized the opportunity to join him. “From the first couple of days, I knew I didn’t ever want to do anything else again,” she shares. Leaving behind a stable 9-to-5 job, Lucia fully embraced her calling.
Finding a New Home with Fathom Realty
In March of last year, Lucia’s husband received PCS orders to relocate to Virginia. Determined to continue her real estate career in the U.S., she began coursework in April and explored brokerages that aligned with her values. Fathom Realty stood out. “The biblical principles the company is founded on were impressive,” Lucia notes. Her positive impression was solidified after meeting Mark Worrilow, Fathom’s District Director for Northern Virginia. She eagerly joined the Fathom family after passing her licensing exam in June.
Advice for New Agents Transitioning to the U.S. Market
Having worked in both German and American markets, Lucia’s advice to those transitioning into U.S. real estate is clear: “Get out of your comfort zone and meet as many people as you possibly can.” She emphasizes the importance of attending local networking events, exploring neighborhoods, and understanding the local lifestyle. “Most importantly,” she adds, “don’t expect your real estate career to look like what you see on HGTV or Netflix.”
Serving the Military Community
As a military spouse, Lucia understands the unique challenges service members and their families face. “God’s plans tend to make a lot more sense,” she reflects on her unexpected journey into military life. In 2025, Lucia plans to focus more on serving the military community in Prince William County, VA, and beyond. “There’s a massive lack of education about how active-duty families and Veterans can buy or invest in real estate,” she explains. Through her work, she aims to bridge this gap and empower military families to make informed decisions that build generational wealth.
Building Her Business
Lucia’s approach to business growth is as dynamic as her personality. Whether chatting with neighbors, connecting with local entrepreneurs, or door-knocking—a new but rewarding practice for her—she thrives on creating meaningful relationships. Membership in the Prince William Association of REALTORS® (PWAR) has also been instrumental, providing her with valuable education and resources to better serve her clients.
A Life Beyond Real Estate
When she’s not busy with real estate, Lucia can be found enjoying time with her French Bulldog, Sheba, leading Sunday classes for first and second graders at her local church, or exploring new restaurants with her husband. These activities reflect her commitment to both community and family, key pillars of her life and career.
Her Future Looks Bright!
Under the mentorship of Mark Worrilow and the supportive environment at Fathom Realty, Lucia is well on her way to becoming a standout agent in Northern Virginia. Her journey from Germany to Virginia is a testament to her dedication, adaptability, and unwavering passion for real estate. Lucia’s mission to educate and empower her clients—especially those in the military community—ensures that she is making a meaningful impact, one home at a time.
