For Scott Lustig, those principles have guided his entire career. After decades of leadership in the military and the aerospace and defense industry, Scott brought a wealth of experience into real estate, where he now serves clients and fellow professionals through his work with Fathom Realty.

From Global Leadership to Real Estate Service

Before entering real estate, Scott spent more than three decades serving in both the United States military and the aerospace and defense industry. His career included senior executive leadership roles with Lockheed Martin as well as service in the United States Navy.

During his time with Lockheed Martin, Scott held numerous executive positions overseeing major contracts and strategic operations, including a leadership assignment in Beijing as the company’s senior executive representative in the People’s Republic of China. 

These experiences provided a powerful foundation for his transition into real estate. Negotiation, discipline, strategic thinking, and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds all became essential tools in his new career.

For Scott, the shift felt natural. His professional background prepared him to navigate complex decisions, manage high-stakes negotiations, and serve clients with the same mission-focused approach he had developed throughout his career.

He currently serves as Chair of the Virginia REALTORS® Communications Committee and has played an active role representing thousands of real estate professionals across the state.

In this leadership role, Scott sees two key trends shaping the future of the industry:

Technology innovation, particularly emerging tools such as artificial intelligence, and the continued importance of personal relationships.

While new technologies offer powerful ways to improve efficiency and insights, Scott believes their true value lies in strengthening relationships rather than replacing them.

For him, AI and other emerging tools should ultimately support deeper, more meaningful connections with clients.
