When the Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center (VWHRC) of Little River, SC, organized the Stand Down for Homeless Veterans event on October 20, 2023, it wasn’t just another day on the calendar. It was a day dedicated to the well-being and upliftment of those who have bravely served our nation. Leading the charge in offering support, information, and hope was a group of passionate Fathom Realty representatives led by District Director Kim Nicoll.
The event, held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., was a collaborative effort between VWHRC and Veterans Affairs to provide critical services and resources to several hundred veterans. These services included employment information, clothing, boxed food, and personal care items. With a commitment to bettering the lives of veterans, it was only natural that Fathom Realty and its dedicated volunteers played a role in this initiative.
Kim Nicoll and her team of volunteers, which included Jennifer Kerman, Residential Mortgage Loan Originator from Encompass Lending Group in Chapin, SC, came together to make a real difference. Their primary focus was on providing housing information and resources, including introducing the Fathom Realty Hometown Heroes program, which is designed to benefit those who have served our country. Their presence at the event exemplified the true spirit of community service and collaboration.
“What a great way to spend a Fall morning! I met some wonderful Veterans with our Fathom Realty and Encompass Lending family,” expressed Kim Nicoll. She thanked VWHRC and Jennifer Kerman for traveling to the coast to offer their help and support, showing a genuine commitment to the cause. Kim also recognized the unwavering dedication of Elisabeth Norton, Renee Carlson, and Justin Carlson, who, alongside her, served the local Veterans with utmost care and compassion.
The mission of the Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center is a noble one, aiming to put an end to veteran homelessness. Their multifaceted approach includes job placement assistance, help with filing claims with the Veterans Administration, financial aid for those in need, and temporary shelter for homeless veterans until permanent housing can be secured. It’s an initiative that aligns seamlessly with the values of Fathom Realty and its dedicated representatives, who take pride in supporting the communities they serve.
The partnership between VWHRC, Fathom Realty, and Encompass Lending Group showcases the power of unity in our local communities. Together, they are working tirelessly to ensure that those who have sacrificed for our nation receive the respect and support they deserve.
